About the Role

We are working with a dynamic renewable energy company that has recently secured significant investment to expand its portfolio in the solar energy sector. As part of their strategic growth, they have established a new business unit and seeking a Head of Technical to oversee the technical aspects of their solar farm development projects in Japan. This role will report directly to the Founder and play a pivotal role in shaping the company's technical capabilities and culture.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development of solar projects from early-stage development to construction, including EPC oversight.
  • Conduct site visits to assess potential project locations and manage layout studies to optimize solar farm design.
  • Perform yield calculations to ensure project viability and maximise energy output.
  • Manage grid connection processes, ensuring timely and secure grid integration.
  • Liaise with local authorities to secure necessary permits and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with the BU CEO and other stakeholders to drive project success.
  • Elevate the company's technical competencies, establishing best practices and innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong background in Electrical Engineering with experience in solar energy projects.
  • Proven project management skills, particularly in overseeing complex technical projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience in layout studies, yield calculation, and grid connection processes.
  • Ability to navigate and manage relationships with local authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English.
