About the Role

We are partnering with a prominent renewable energy developer in the APAC region that is experiencing rapid growth. They are seeking a Wind Project Engineering Manager to lead and manage the entire project lifecycle. This role will be based in Tokyo and will report directly to the Head of Engineering.



Responsibilities

  • Wind Resource Observation

    • Lead the planning of wind measurement campaigns ensuring adherence to relevant codes, standards, guidelines, and best practices.
    • Collaborate with contractors to install meteorological masts and Lidar systems.
    • Monitor and maintain observation systems, implementing countermeasures for any malfunctions.
  • Wind Production Assessment

    • Oversee and conduct wind resource assessments using software such as Windographer, Openwind, MASCOT, and RIAM-COMPACT.
    • Coordinate with consultants to produce Annual Energy Production reports.
  • Wind Farm Layout Design

    • Maximize annual energy production through data analysis and software tools.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to address risks associated with construction, electrical systems, and financial aspects.
    • Ensure wind farm layouts comply with all relevant constraints and standards.
  • Wind Farm Certification

    • Manage the certification process in collaboration with consultants.
    • Conduct extreme wind speed calculations internally to mitigate associated risks.


Requirements

  • Positive and proactive approach.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, renewable energy, statistics, atmospheric science, mathematics, physics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in engineering or regulated industries.
  • Proven project management, planning, and controlling skills with strong prioritization, organizational, networking, leadership, time management, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Skilled in identifying critical issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Proficient in interpreting Japanese and English codes and standards.
  • Strong report-writing capabilities.
  • Fluency in Japanese (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Willingness to travel and the ability to drive.


Preferred Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Master's degree or MBA.
  • Experience with wind analysis software.
  • Background in fluid mechanics.
