Wind Turbine O&M: Lead Field Service Technician
Job Description
As a lead field service technician, you will interface regularly with the Site Service Manager, the Site team, and internal technical teams. And you will also engage in annual maintenance, retrofit works, and fault finding of OEM wind turbine generators with site technicians.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a solid understanding of relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards, and Codes of Practice.
- Interpret manuals, specifications, and bulletins, completing tasks as per work instructions.
- Collaborate with the site manager to coordinate and delegate maintenance schedules and daily activities.
- Lead, coach, and train site technicians and third-party contractors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and share lessons learned.
- Develop work programs for timely asset servicing and organize daily plans for contractors.
- Ensure proper maintenance and fault diagnosis of assets.
- Maintain reports using various software tools and databases.
- Report errors, violations, incidents, or issues promptly via client reporting systems.
- Submit technical inquiries to Engineering for issue resolution.
- Participate in an on-call roster for weekend and night shifts as needed.
- Execute high voltage switching operations in line with site procedures, including managing permits and creating switching instructions.
- Adhere to all EHS policies and procedures relevant to the role, assist with investigations and audits, and report unsafe conditions.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety policies and work within established guidelines.
- Conduct maintenance, installation, and repairs on electrical systems to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
- Ensure all work complies with documentation and Services EHS policies, including Electrical Safety and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Supervise daily site activities and manage technicians and third parties.
- Ensure all documentation related to electrical work and high voltage switching is completed accurately and filed.
- Create and manage engineering cases.
- Represent the site in meetings.
Required Skills/Qualifications
- At least 5 years' experience as a wind farm field service technician, and at least 3 years' experience as a lead technician
- At least few years' work experiences of wind turbine generators
- Have training certificates of wind turbine generators
- Having leadership, or leadership training
- Understanding of basic AC/DC electrical circuits and ability to T/S and conduct circuit analysis
- Demonstrated previous experience in High Voltage switching and operations
- Have a current High Voltage operating certificate
- Proficient in fault finding electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment
- Trained to an intermediate level in computer skills
- Must have positive attitude and the ability to complete physically demanding tasks at heights
- Be on the weekend on-call roster and open to travel to other locations where required
- A current driver's license
- Clear experience and examples driving a safety culture
- GWO BST
Preferred
- Work experiences with Japanese workers, or work experiences at wind farms in Japan
