About the Client
Our client is an international renewable energy developer aiming to build more projects in the Philippines. With a focus on delivering clean energy solutions, the company seeks to cater to its growing client base by developing more projects to meet increasing energy demands.
Position Summary
The Head of Development will oversee the end-to-end development process for large-scale solar projects. This role requires strategic vision, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of project development, land acquisition, EPC/O&M contract negotiations, and technical assessments.
Key Responsibilities
Feasibility Studies and Technical Assessments
- Support, as necessary, project development teams with the review of various studies including but not limited to, resource assessment, grid impact assessment, transmission route survey, geotechnical, marine and other environmental studies.
Land and Route Identification
- Support the project development team in identifying and selecting land for power plant and substation and the transmission line route.
EPC and O&M Contract Management
- Support the process of selecting contractors/suppliers and negotiating and implementing EPC and O&M contracts with them for projects underdevelopment. This includes preparing the invitation to bid packages,coordinating site visits and pre- bid meetings, evaluating offers, procuring internal approvals for the selected bidder and signing the EPC and O&M contracts.
Construction Management Support
- Assist the project construction team in putting together constructio management team, manuals, plans and systems. Assist the project construction and operations teams, if necessary, with engineering review, testing, commissioning, start-up and other technical services.
Investment and Financial Support
- Support the investment team:
- In undertaking technical due diligence of solar and energy storage projects
- Providing cost and other technical inputs to the investment team as may be necessary to complete the analysis and valuation of a project.
- Assist the investment and management team with review of the development, construction, and O&M budgets.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including government authorities, consultants, and contractors, to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
While your primary focus will be for projects in the Philippines, you may be
required to support the Employer's projects elsewhere in SE Asia from time to time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- 8+ years of experience in solar energy development, with a strong focus on utility-scale and rooftop solar projects.
- Proven expertise in EPC and O&M contract negotiations and management.
- In-depth knowledge of land acquisition processes in the Philippines, environmental regulations, and grid connectivity requirements.
- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Expected to travel to countries in SEA
