Our Client

NextWave Partners is working with a cutting-edge renewable energy developer, spearheading the transition towards a sustainable and clean energy future. This company is at the forefront of revolutionising the renewable energy landscape.

They are seeking to recruit an Engineering Director to support their utility scale business in their development of wind and solar projects. The core focus of the role will be supporting the development, construction, and operational phases of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams across various renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind and energy storage. This role requires a proactive and collaborative individual who can bridge technical expertise with strategic planning to drive project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support for Project Development:
    • Review and assess resource studies such as resource assessments, grid impact studies, geotechnical, marine, environmental studies, and transmission route surveys.
    • Collaborate with the project development team to identify and select optimal land for power plants, substations, and transmission line routes.
  2. Contractor and Supplier Management:
    • Lead the preparation of invitation-to-bid packages, organize site visits and pre-bid meetings, and evaluate contractor and supplier proposals.
    • Negotiate and implement Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contracts.
    • Facilitate internal approval processes and oversee contract execution for projects under development.
  3. Construction Support:
    • Assist the project construction team in forming construction management teams, and developing manuals, plans, and systems.
    • Provide engineering review, testing, commissioning, start-up, and other technical services to support the construction and operations teams.
  4. Investment Support:
    • Conduct technical due diligence for solar, wind (onshore and offshore), hydro, and energy storage projects.
    • Provide cost analysis and other technical inputs to support the investment team in project valuation and decision-making.
  1. Budget Review and Analysis:
    • Collaborate with the investment and management teams to review development, construction, and O&M budgets.
    • Ensure technical and financial feasibility through comprehensive analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in renewable energy project engineering, development, or construction.
  • Expertise in multiple renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, hydro, and energy storage preferred).
  • Strong understanding of technical studies, project feasibility assessments, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing EPC and O&M contracts.
  • Proficiency in managing multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
