Job Title: Head of Commercial Off-take (PPA), Business Development
Reports To: CEO
Salary: 25 - 30m+ JPY
About the Company
An APAC-focused renewable energy developer and investor with a strong track record in Japan. The company specializes in the full project lifecycle of renewable energy assets, from land acquisition and permitting to plant construction, financing, and operations. Backed by robust funding, the company is rapidly expanding its pipeline of non-FIT renewable projects targeting corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), with a goal of reaching 1GW of capacity in the coming years.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the origination, negotiation, and execution of corporate off-take agreements (PPAs) to maximize project value.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with corporate off-takers, financial institutions, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with internal development, EPC, and project finance teams to ensure successful execution.
- Support project value optimization throughout the lifecycle of assets, from development to operation.
Experience & Skills Required
- 10+ years of professional experience with at least 2-3 years in business development related to utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar experience preferred).
- Proven track record of successfully closing off-take agreements as a developer, retailer, or consumer.
- Strong understanding of structured project finance and familiarity with equity and debt sensitivities related to PPA terms.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid technical knowledge or acumen for PV-technology, including development, construction, operation, and performance.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to drive results and take ownership of projects.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, economics, marketing, real estate, or a related field.
- MBA is a plus.
Key Competencies
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple cross-functional tasks.
- Financial analysis and modelling skills are a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Native-level Japanese; English fluency is a plus.
Location: Tokyo, Japan. Domestic travel may be required.
