Job Overview:
Nextwave Partners is working with a leading international player in the Renewable energy industry that is looking for a PPA Originator to join their APAC Energy Markets team in Singapore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying potential offtakers (buyers of electricity), negotiating PPA terms, including pricing, duration, and contract structure, and securing agreements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute origination and hedging strategies to support regional utility-scale energy and storage projects, ensuring risk management and revenue optimization.
- Lead the origination of bankable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and energy storage agreements, with a focus on capturing opportunities in changing market conditions across select Asian markets.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams in development, finance, operations, and legal to align commercial strategies with operational and financing requirements.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with counterparties and stakeholders, positioning the company prominently within the sector and ensuring alignment with customer needs.
- Monitor and analyze market developments, providing senior management with regular insights and updates to support strategic decision-making and new market entry.
Qualifications
- Strong background in the energy sector, with expertise in utility-scale project origination and end-to-end PPA negotiation.
- Deep understanding of target markets in Asia, such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India, and Thailand, with insights into offtaker demand and utility-scale renewable trends.
- Proven track record of developing, negotiating, and securing energy and storage offtake agreements.
- Ability to evaluate and capitalize on emerging market opportunities, with experience in market entry and building new client relationships in the energy sector.
- Relevant academic credentials in finance, business, engineering, or related fields; an MBA is advantageous.
