About the Role:
Our client is seeking out a highly skilled Director of Transmission Planning to join their team and to work closely with the Chief Energy Officer to assess and evaluate transmission infrastructure for both established and emerging markets throughout the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee engineering consultants to conduct power flow analysis using industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate with the Land Strategy team to determine initial markets and assist in utility screenings for generation and transmission capacity.
- Forge and nurture relationships with utility and RTO/ISO transmission teams.
- Develop, maintain, and influence transmission planning and generation interconnection models to accommodate the companies growth objectives.
- Evaluate costs, timelines, and key risks associated with proposed power projects.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of 7 to 10 years in electric transmission planning.
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineer, or related field.
- Comprehensive understanding demonstrated in utility and RTO/ISO planning processes, along with proficiency in NERC Reliability Standards.
- Extensive experience showcased in analyzing transmission system models, including power flow, contingency, short circuit, and stability.
- Demonstrated capability in site selection for substations and/or transmission infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in collaborating with stakeholders from real estate, economic development, and/or public policy domains to assess sites for transmission or substation projects.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software (TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, PowerWorld, etc)
