Job Description: Project Director - Onshore Wind (Philippines)

Position Overview: The Project Director for Onshore Wind in the Philippines will lead and oversee the successful development, construction, and delivery of onshore wind energy projects. This senior leadership role requires expertise in wind energy project management, including site development, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. The Project Director will collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, contractors, regulatory bodies, and local communities to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and meets all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Leadership & Strategy:
    • Lead the strategic planning and execution of multiple onshore wind energy projects in the Philippines.
    • Develop and implement project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management strategies.
    • Provide leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring alignment with project goals and organizational objectives.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment to ensure successful project delivery.
  2. Stakeholder Management:
    • Engage with key stakeholders including government agencies, local communities, environmental organizations, landowners, contractors, and suppliers.
    • Manage relationships with local and national authorities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitating permits and approvals.
    • Represent the company at public consultations, forums, and meetings as needed.
  3. Budget and Resource Management:
    • Oversee the project's financials, including developing and monitoring project budgets, ensuring cost control, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
    • Manage resource allocation to ensure the project has the necessary human, financial, and technical resources.
    • Conduct regular progress reviews and update senior management on the project's status, including risks, timelines, and financial performance.
  4. Risk Management & Compliance:
    • Identify, assess, and manage potential risks (technical, financial, environmental, social) to ensure the project progresses according to plan.
    • Ensure all necessary regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance requirements are met throughout the project's lifecycle.
    • Monitor safety performance on-site and promote a culture of safety excellence.
  5. Technical Oversight:
    • Provide technical oversight and guidance for the design, procurement, and construction phases of the wind projects.
    • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and quality standards are met.
    • Collaborate with construction teams to monitor progress and address any challenges related to design, construction, or commissioning.
  6. Quality Control & Assurance:
    • Ensure that all deliverables meet the company's quality standards and local regulatory requirements.
    • Implement quality control systems and regular inspections throughout the project lifecycle.
  7. Sustainability & Environmental Considerations:
    • Champion sustainability initiatives and ensure the project aligns with environmental best practices.
    • Ensure the integration of environmental impact assessments and other necessary environmental studies into the project planning and execution.
  8. Reporting & Documentation:
    • Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership, including project status, financial updates, key milestones, and any issues or risks.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, permits, and compliance records.
  9. Team Development:
    • Mentor and develop junior project managers, engineers, and other staff involved in the project.
    • Promote continuous learning and development within the team.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • At least 10-15 years of experience in renewable energy project management, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing onshore wind projects.
    • Proven track record in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in renewable energy or onshore wind.
    • Familiarity with the regulatory landscape and permitting processes in the Philippines, as well as the local and national energy market.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects and stakeholders.
    • Strong financial management and budget oversight skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of wind energy technologies, construction, and best practices.
    • Familiarity with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) practices in the construction and energy sectors.
    • Fluency in both English and Filipino (preferred).

Location: The position is based in the Philippines and may require travel to project sites across the country.
